Aveeno Products

Hey Guys!

I have to share from time to time new products that I find that I fall in love with! Well this is one of those times.
I was fortunate enough to be an Aveeno Advocate and  Crowdtap sent me some free samples to try! I am in love with both of them but as you can see from my review listed below I am a little crazy about the new lotion sunscreen. It smells amazing and you know living in Puerto Rico you can't go outside without sunscreen. I hope that you guys try these new products out because they are simply amazing!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Praying for our Nation

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: “Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. (Daniel 9:3-5 NIV)

This verse was brought to my attention through a devotion. It was talking about prayer. It said that this is a great reminder to pray for our nation or country as a whole. We all sin and fall short, but I think we all can agree that our nation is in a really bad place right now and needs as many prayers as we can give. I know Puerto Rico needs so much prayer right now. I hate the fact that I am leaving in a few days because I don't feel God is done using me here yet but only He knows the plans He has for us. He may continue to use me from afar or could bring me back. I only pray that I listen to Him and follow His directions even when they are difficult.

I admit that I don't like change. It is difficult for me, and most times I am resistant. I had a tough time when we moved here because of all the changes and how drastically my life changed overnight. I knew that God had called my family here, but it was still very difficult. To say that our 3 years have been difficult would be the understatement of the day, but God has also used this time to work miracles. He brought me closer to Him than ever before and I am growing and learning more everyday. He brought my family closer together and taught us to work as a team and not separately. He taught us all to be grateful for what is important and to appreciate the little things in life. I thought that I did that already until it was all taken from me. It wasn't until then that I became truly grateful for food, water, and electricity things that I have had to do without often due to finances.

Puerto Rico is a very poor island. Of course there are those few with a lot of money, but they do not invest in the island they keep it for themselves. There are very few jobs here and a lot of people on this island. Just last week the governor of Puerto Rico signed an executive order to permit the use of medical marijuana. Alexandra Sifferlin from Time magazine writes:

“We’re taking a significant step in the area of health that is fundamental to our development and quality of life,” Gov. Alejandro Garcia Padilla said in a statement. “I am sure that many patients will receive appropriate treatment that will offer them new hope.” Padilla noted that research supports the use of marijuana to relieve pain and symptoms from disorders that range from multiple sclerosis to glaucoma.

It is my prayer that it doesn't go beyond this. I pray people use it for the right reasons and do not abuse it. Crime and drugs are very bad here I see it on a daily basis and that is why we must take the words of Daniel to heart and pray for our nation as it is hurting and in need of God like never before. Please join me in praying for our country today.

What is my "niche?"

Have you ever been asked the question
"What is your niche?" "What do you blog about?"
Yeah that's what I think too Money Man! I am thinking I have to narrow it down to one thing that just makes me sleepy.

I am a Christian, a mommy, a wife, a teacher, a book nerd, a crafter, a frugal-make-every-cent-count girl, a make-up obsessed girl, a girly girl with 2 boys, a traveler, and the list could go on and on. So let's just look at that list and see what my "niche" is. Well there you have it folks I am a blogger! I write about well...everything. I do not force you to stop by my little tiny spot on the web and read what I have to say, but I would love it if you did. So I don't fit into a category guess what I am just fine with that.

So are you struggling to define your blog or website? Who is your target audience? (Like you are going to take them out BAM!) What is it you have expertise in? Goodness we are all experts in so many things. So don't let the "experts" tell you that you need a target audience or to decide are you a mommy blog, a fashion blog because I consider myself one fashionable mommy just saying! My advice be YOU! You are your own niche and your own target audience and it is perfect just the way it is! I hope I helped some of you stars out there shine a little brighter today because there is just to much other stuff to be worrying about than what perfect category you fit into! Enjoy your Sunday afternoon y'all!

Book Reviews

Hey Y'all!

I know I know it has been a while, but I have super busy in Puerto Rico! I am currently working on another blog on Wordpress and I am not sure if I will move my content from this blog over or just try and start over I guess I will just have to wait and see how many of you respond to this post and a few more.

So I am starting a new section where I will be reviewing books. I am an avid reader and I love all things books! I will literally read almost everything. I am an elementary teacher so I will read and review children's literature. I will let you know my professional opinion and whether or not I would use it in my curriculum. I will also review almost all other genres of books. I am a Christian, so I do not read hard core romance novels with lots of sex scenes in them due to my personal preference. This does not mean that I do not read any romance novels I am a hopeless romantic after all. I just chose not to read Fifty Shades of Grey because I do not enjoy reading things of this nature. These types of books make me feel uncomfortable and I just do not enjoy them. Judge me if you want, I know many people who did read them and loved them so to each his own. I do read Christian fiction and love it and will review many of these books. I also read a ton of self help books because let's face it I need all the help I can get :) I am excited about this new addition to my blog and I hope that you will enjoy it! Please let me know what you think!

Cute Fun Tag

Hey Y'all!

I just wanted to post a cute little tag that I made. I just had the sudden urge to color in the middle of the night yeah like 3 am. I know I am loco! I used a very cute file from Kadoodle Bug Designs  but I have had it for so long I thikn it is already retired :( I need to start using more recent stuff because their stuff is so so cute! I made this tag for a challenge that I missed anything but a card but it was still fun.

I used my sakura pens to color most of it. I also used Faber-Castell gelato with some water to make water colors. I glued some bead to the crown which would have been so much easier if I had sewn them, but you know me I have to be difficult. I added extra beads around for some more bling. I used some really cheap twine I got from walmart because I thought there can not be much difference (boy was I wrong) I am ordering some new twine TODAY! The tag shape is from the Silhouette store. The final touch was my favorite thing in the world tulle as the top! I hope you enjoy my tag.

A new series

Hey Y'all!

I know that I have been saying this for so long now that I was going to get back into blogging but this time I am very serious. I am thinking of moving this blog over to wordpress because I like the platform better and I have more customizable options there. As you can plainly see this blog is a hit mess right now!

I am starting a new series today and if it offends you then you do not have to read it, but I wil not apologize for who I am and sharing my faith. I honestly do not know if anyone even reads my blog anymore because although I have many followeres I have been out of the blog world for a while.

Today my devotion was on Matthew. It came from Matthew chapter 9 verses 9-13. It talked about how Matthew became one of Jesus' diciples. Matthew was a tax collector and many of you know that was like a very crooked politician back then. Jesus went to him and asked him to leave his old life and follow Him. Can you imagine what that must be like. Jesus saying "hey you the one over there who sells drugs will you leave everything that you know including all your friends and family and follow me?"
People looked on and said um why is your Master hanging out with such scum? vs 11 Jesus was at Matthew's house eating and visiting with Matthew and his friends having a great time.

My favorite part of this section of verses is verse 12 "When Jesus heard this He said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor-sick people do." Wow! How true this is. Lately I have been so focused on me and what is going on in my life and in my family that I forget that Jesus has called us to help those who are sick spiritually. One of the questions at the end of my devotion asked when was the last time that I brought someone to church or started a friendship with someone far from God? The honest answer is I do not know. I have been working so hard on fixing myself because I have been so sick spirtually that I have not been focusing on helping those who need help more that I do. God really spoke to me through this devotion this morning. I know that oneof the ways that I can heal spiritually is to help others. So I am challenging myself and anyone else that wants to join me in reaching out to someone today who needs to feel God's love. I know this is difficult it is way out of our comfort zone, but the rewards so out weigh the uncomfort. 1 Chronicles 28:20 says "Se strong and courageous and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for The Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you."

Thank you Lord that I am able to worship you freely and I have a platform that I can reach others. If only one person reads this today and is changed or challenged then your work has been done. I pray for each and every person that reads this that you will bless them today and you will give them the strength and courage to reach out to someone in need of you. Lord you are such an amazing forgiving God who gives us so much more than we could ever deserves and I thankyou for all the many many blessing that you have given us. Bless us all as we go through this day. In Jesus' sweet name we pray Amen

Have a wonderful day I love you all
